From raw stone and metal to one-of-a-kind jewelry

Every Coastal Mystic Gems necklace begins with a natural stone and an idea inspired by its unique colors, patterns, and character. I shape the crystal, create its metal setting, and braid its beaded necklace entirely by hand.

Every step takes time, patience, and careful attention to detail. Because no two stones are identical, every necklace is a truly one-of-a-kind creation.

Shaping the Crystal

I begin by carefully cutting, grinding, and shaping the natural crystal. I follow the stone’s individual colors and patterns, allowing its natural beauty to guide the final shape.

Next, I cut genuine copper or sterling silver and shape it to fit the crystal. Each setting is made individually because every stone has its own shape, size, and character.

Soldering the Pendant and Bail

The pieces of metal are joined by hand using a torch and traditional soldering techniques. I also create and solder the bail—the part that connects the finished pendant to the necklace.

Setting the Stone

Once the metalwork is ready, I carefully place the crystal into its custom-made setting and secure it by hand. This step requires precision to protect the stone while ensuring it remains securely held.

Polishing and Finishing

The completed pendant is carefully refined, smoothed, and polished by hand. Every edge, curve, and surface is inspected to create a beautiful finish and bring out the natural warmth of the copper or glow of the sterling silver.

kumihimo braiding technique
Braided One Bead at a Time

The necklace is created using kumihimo, the traditional Japanese art of braiding. Hundreds of tiny beads are woven together in a precise sequence to form a strong, beautifully textured necklace.

Creating just one beaded kumihimo necklace takes approximately four to five hours.

Finally, I join the finished pendant and braided necklace and attach the clasps and finishing components. The entire piece is inspected to ensure that every detail is secure, comfortable, and ready to wear.

The result is more than a necklace—it is a wearable piece of art shaped, soldered, braided, and finished entirely by hand.

Thoughtfully made. Naturally unique. Created to be yours.
